The rosemary plant was regarded as sacred by many civilizations of the world. It was used as a fumigant to drive away infectious diseases and to protect against plagues and evil spirits.
Rosemary is highly analgesic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and antioxidant. It is used in shampoos to assist with the problem of hair loss, strengthening the hair follicles and strands and preventing the hair from breaking and splitting. Due to it's astringent properties, rosemary oil will also help to balance oily hair.
In aromatherapy, research indicates that by inhaling rosemary oil, a brain chemical that is important for thinking is strengthened, thereby helping with concentration and memory. With massage, pain from muscular stress can be eased and soothed and when inhaled, rosemary oil can help to calm anxiety and nervousness, especially with regards to examination stress. Poor circulation in hands, feet and limbs can be relieved with regular massage using diluted rosemary oil.
Fragrant Room Freshener: Sprinkle a few drops over pot-pourri or onto a carrier oil in an oil burner to disinfect the air as well as lift mental strain and fatigue.
Bath: Rosemary oil can also be used in your bath in quantities of 2 to 4 drops mixed into your shower gel. Add to the bath while the water is running.
Shower: Add 1 to 2 drops to shower gel and place it on your washcloth to wash your body.
Cleaning and Disinfecting: Place a few drops of rosemary oil on a cloth or into a bottle of water with a spray nozzle, to disinfectant and purify surfaces and to create fresh and fragrant rooms.
To make your own hand sanitiser, fill a 150 ml bottle to 75% with Vodka, add water to fill and 20 to 30 drop of rosemary oil which adds to the anti-bacterial benefits of the product. Shake well before use.
Rosemary is great for cleaning the glue from price stickers off glass.
